#MiniTasting - Rye Night

The #MiniTasting gang have discovered some interesting Rye on their whisky adventure - New York Distilling's Ragtime Rye was amazing so we've decided to explore the category a little more. We clubbed together to buy a consortium bottle of New Riff's Rye and paired it with a Knob Creek which @ScotchB78 picked up last year in the USA. Let's see what they are like!

Review of my whisky year - 2019

First of all thank you to all the people who have read my blog (c48,000 up from 29,000 last year) and followed me on Twitter (c2,600 up from 1,700 last year).

My highlights of 2019 were:

#MiniTasting - Dailuaine Disco!

The #MiniTasting gang may not all be getting a little long in the tooth but we all like a good boogie! Thanks to @ScotchB78 we had a bit of a @SMWS Dailuaine Disco!

Bruichladdich MP8

Every now and again Bruichladdich launch what they call a Micro Providence set showcasing three difference whiskies with slightly different characteristics so you can compare and contrast them. These are made available in sets of three 200ml bottles for around £50.

The most recent set, MP8, was a set of Port Charlotte drams - about a month after their release the #MiniTasting team and friends gave them a go.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is a members club offering a wide selection of single cask whiskies from distilleries across the world.

For this #MiniTasting @WhiskynStuff supplied 3 drams for @jwbassman_ @ScotchB78 and myself to try!

#MiniTasting - Loch North

An interesting combination in our latest #MiniTasting, a pair of drams which may owe a lot of their heritage to Loch Lomond Group! Drams from @ScotchB78 & @WhiskynStuff for @jwbassman_ and myself to try!

#MiniTasting - Chapter 7 Blends

@Chapter7whisky is an independent bottler originally based in Switzerland, I've tried a number of their single cask bottlings and generally been very impressed!

They have bottled nearly 40 casks, at the time of writing, but this time @jwbassman_ supplied three of their blends for @WhiskynStuff, @ScotchB78 and myself to try!

#MiniTasting - Chorlton single casks

@ChorltonWhisky is an independent bottler based in Manchester with some really nice bottle labels on each of their drams.

They have bottled over 25 casks, at the time of writing, @ScotchB78 supplied 3 drams for @jwbassman_ @WhiskynStuff, and myself to try!

#MiniTasting - Loch Lomond Single Casks

This time we are reviewing two drams from @LochLomondMalts distillery, two 11yo single cask, cask strength bottlings.

I tried these as part of a #MiniTasting with John @jwbassman_ Paul @WhiskynStuff and Scott @ScotchB78 so I've added their opinions too!

#MiniTasting with a Super-Secret Mystery dram!

A normal run of the mill drample swap resulting in an unidentified bottle being delivered, discussions ensued and it turned out the @WhiskynStuff had sent this dram to a few of his recent drample swapers. An idea was hatched do do a simultaneous tasting and thus #MiniTasting was organised. 'Organised' might not be the right word.... thrown together might be better! We only sorted out the sample order 5 minutes before the start!.
