Side by side: Independent Glenturret

@DrinkGlenturret distillery have had a bit of a renaissance since leaving the Famous Grouse stable, a new brand and new bottlings but obviously still the same liquid.

I've talked about Glenturret's recent take over and new releases before here and here, but this time I'm going to look at four independent bottlings.

Chorlton Whisky - Four Peat Monsters

Side by side : An indie Glentauchers flight

Built just before the turn of the 20th Century, Glentauchers has always been a Speyside malt used for blends.

Occasional indie releases can be found, let's see what they are like!

What Ardmore can really be like

Ardmore gets a bad wrap for it's cheap supermarket NAS, most of its output goes into the Teacher's range of blends.

In this blog I'm trying an older distillery bottling and 4 independent bottlings.

Side by side : Independent Tomintoul

Tomintoul isn't a distillery I've tried any drams from before - these two independents - a 12yo from Cadenhead and a 14yo from Chorlton are the first I've tried.

Let see how they compare side by side!

Side by side : Independent Caol Ila

Caol Ila is Diageo's mega distillery on Islay, it's capable of producing in excess of 7 million litres of whisky a year! Some of it is bottled as a single malt, some goes into blends and some casks find their way into the hands of independent bottlers.

What I have here are 4 independent bottlings, lets see how they compare.

On today's Side by side we're looking at two Ruadh Maor drams from two Independent bottlers. "Ruadh Maor?" you ask, "Yes Ruadh Maor" I answer.....

#MiniTasting - Chorlton single casks

@ChorltonWhisky is an independent bottler based in Manchester with some really nice bottle labels on each of their drams.

They have bottled over 25 casks, at the time of writing, @ScotchB78 supplied 3 drams for @jwbassman_ @WhiskynStuff, and myself to try!
