Whisky Advent Calendar 2022 - Dram reviews

Those great people at @DrinksByTheDram sent me an Advent Calendar for the run up to Christmas! For the whisky fans amongst us this makes much more sense than a chocolate one!

Now the idea with an Advent Calendar is that you open 1 door each day from the 1st December through to Christmas Eve... But please enjoy your whisky responsibly! Sometimes it may not possible to open a dram each day, you could share with mates or save a couple to enjoy at the weekend?

A Signature Journey

If you've been reading this blog for a while you may have gone back and read my first post about how I got into whisky - my first distillery visit to Edradour near Pitlochry in the Highlands. Now when I visited back in the last century it was owned by Pernod Ricard but shortly after my visit in 2002 it was bought by a local independent bottler by the name Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company.

As well as distilling Edradour and peated whisky under the name Ballechin, they buy casks from other distilleries and bottle them under the name Signatory Vintage. Over the years I've tried a few of these and always been very impressed.

That Boutique-y Whisky's night of 101 years!

Last night I had the great pleasure of taking part in another of Steve @TheWhiskyWire's @TweetTastings where we sampled 101 years of whisky in 5 delicious drams from That Boutique-y Whisky Company @BoutiqueyWhisky. If you've not heard of them they are an independent bottler specialising in small batch whiskies from around the world, each is cask strength, non chill filtered and non-coloured.

Each bottle has it's own unique graphic-novel-style label and associated postcard by Emily Chappell. You can read an amusing account of how she came to create whisky labels here!
