Side by side: Three 1st Fill Oloroso from The Whisky Barrel

1st Fill Oloroso is a favourite of mine, add some peat and it's a match made in heaven! @WhiskyBarrel have released a number of bottles in their Originals range which have been matured in 1st Fill Oloroso, one of which is peated!

Let's try some!

TBWC Advent Calendar 2021 - Dram reviews

Those great people at @DrinksByTheDram sent me an Advent Calendar for the run up to Christmas! For the whisky fans amongst us this makes much more sense than a chocolate one!

Now the idea with an Advent Calendar is that you open 1 door each day from the 1st December through to Christmas Eve... But please enjoy your whisky responsibly! Sometimes it may not possible to open a dram each day, you could share with mates or save a couple to enjoy at the weekend?

#LetsTrySomeWhisky - Balblair

It's been a while but the Anglo French #LetsTrySomeWhisky gang got back together to try our third set of drams - this time a flight from Highland distillery Balblair.

Let's see what we thought!

Side by side : Highland 46s

Highland drams seem to get a little ignored by reviewers with their big brothers from Islay or Speyside taking the limelight. This region produces nearly a quarter of all the whisky distilled in Scotland.

For this side by side I've selected 5 Highland drams all at the ABV sweet spot of 46% but with varying maturation, let see what they are like!

#MiniTasting - SMWS

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is a members club offering a wide selection of single cask whiskies from distilleries across the world.

For this #MiniTasting @WhiskynStuff supplied 3 drams for @jwbassman_ @ScotchB78 and myself to try!

#MiniTasting with a Super-Secret Mystery dram!

A normal run of the mill drample swap resulting in an unidentified bottle being delivered, discussions ensued and it turned out the @WhiskynStuff had sent this dram to a few of his recent drample swapers. An idea was hatched do do a simultaneous tasting and thus #MiniTasting was organised. 'Organised' might not be the right word.... thrown together might be better! We only sorted out the sample order 5 minutes before the start!.
