Side by side : An unusual Bourbon flight

For this side by side I've had a rummage through my sample boxes and come up with 4 bourbons.

They are all a little different - let's see what they are like.

TBWC Norwest-Euro Express Series

The first of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's 2022 releases are based on a Norwest Euro Express, @BoutiqueyDave took us on a train journey!

The latest line-ups introduces nine world (non-Scotch) whiskies alongside three rums, with bottlings from both new and established distilleries.

TBWC Wine Series MMXXI

That Boutique-y Whisky have now switched to quarterly themed releases for their whisky. Led by their brand ambassador Dave Worthington @BoutiqueyDave you are taken through some amazing whiskies this time wine finished!

The latest line-ups introduces ten world (non-Scotch) whiskies alongside four rums, with bottlings from both new and established distilleries.

TBWC Advent Calendar 2021

Those great people at @MasterofMalt sent me an Advent Calendar for the run up to Christmas! For the whisky fans amongst us this makes much more sense than a chocolate one!

Now the idea with an Advent Calendar is that you open 1 door each day from the 1st December through to Christmas Eve... But please enjoy your whisky responsibly! Sometimes it may not possible to open a dram each day, you could share with mates or save a couple to enjoy at the weekend?

This Home Nations Series is a release of 12 bottles - 9 whiskies and 3 rums.

Side by side : An indie Glentauchers flight

Built just before the turn of the 20th Century, Glentauchers has always been a Speyside malt used for blends.

Occasional indie releases can be found, let's see what they are like!

Side by side : A Ledaig flight

The only distillery on the Island of Mull, Tobermory, produces both unpeated and peated whisky. The peated now goes under the name Ledaig.

Sometimes knows as 'dirty whisky' - here I'll try five different bottlings.

This Australian Series is a release of 8 bottles.

For Burn's Night 2021 a selection of 4 drams were showcased, accompanied by some unique poetry!

TBWC Nc'Nean

New distilleries seem to be popping up all over the place recently, with their first releases disappearing from the shelves very quickly. @Ncnean distillery's first release did exactly the same but more recent batches are available.

Some how @BoutiqueyWhisky managed to get hold of a single cask and bottled it at cask strength.

TBWC Rye Series MMXX

Independent Bottler That Boutique-y Whisky Company have switched to releasing their whiskies as series, the previous one was World Whiskies, the latest is all about Rye.

For this side by side I've selected 5 single grains from 4 different independent bottlers, ranging in age from 10yo to 39yo, lets see how they compare.

Heading up into the Highlands for this side by side, the biggest 'whisky region' in Scotland, three drams bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

Whisky from...? South Africa

OK hands up how many distilleries can you name in South Africa? No looking in the Malt Whisky Yearbook..... Well if, like me, you'd be hard pressed to name one.....

JUST A MINUTE - HAVEN'T WE BEEN HERE BEFORE WITH SWITZERLAND?

Ooops....

And yes actually I could name one - the James Sedgwick Distillery which distils Bain's Single Grain.

Whisky from...? Switzerland

OK hands up how many distilleries can you name in Switzerland? No looking in the Malt Whisky Yearbook..... Well if, like me, you'd be hard pressed to name one never mind the twenty or so that are actually there here's a clue - it's also the name of a brewery! Still no idea?

In my book Switzerland is known for four things:

• High mountains
• Complicated, highly accurate watches
• Private banking
• Toblerone
