Whisky Advent Calendar 2022 - Dram reviews

Those great people at @DrinksByTheDram sent me an Advent Calendar for the run up to Christmas! For the whisky fans amongst us this makes much more sense than a chocolate one!

Now the idea with an Advent Calendar is that you open 1 door each day from the 1st December through to Christmas Eve... But please enjoy your whisky responsibly! Sometimes it may not possible to open a dram each day, you could share with mates or save a couple to enjoy at the weekend?

Southport Whisky Festival

How do you organise a Whisky Festival during Lockdown? People aren't allowed to meet in large numbers, suppliers can't or won't get onboard...

You find an enthusiastic team... maybe an existing whisky club... with a leader with strong industry links.... and put a plan together!

Batches : Glengoyne Teapot Dram

Distilleries often release whisky in batches, the same name but subtly different recipes, ABVs, maturation periods etc. In this new, occasional series, I'm going to review a number of different Batches in my Side-by-side format to see if I can detect any differences, does each batch get better or are they to all intents and purposes the same?

This time I'll be reviewing batches #4 and #6 of TeaPot Dram from @Glengoyne distillery, what differences are there?

Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar

I was lucky enough to receive a whisky advent calendar from those lovely people at @DrinksByTheDram, it was their Scotch Whisky 2019 edition.

Each day during #Dramvent I opened a door and discovered what was inside!

Boutique-y Highland Fling!

As part of That Boutique-y Dram Good Club I recently received two Highland drams and decided to give them my side-by-side treatment.

These are both TBWC bottlings of Teaninch and Glengoyne whiskies.

Glengoyne @TweetTastings

Today I've taken part in a first - the first @Glengoyne @TweetTasting - and I hope it won't be the last! Four fantastic drams were sampled and discussed and a great time was had by all!

As usual with these things a parcel arrived a couple of days before the event:

Included were a lovely branded tasting glass, samples of Glengoyne's 10, 12 and 18 year olds and a mystery sample simply labelled "?" but weighing in at an impressive 59.8% There was some speculation on Twitter about the contents of the bottle, most agreeing that it would be the latest batch release of Cask Strength. On the day before the tasting Glengoyne officially released the Cask Strength Batch 006!

#BlindTasting Series 3 - Review

Series 3 of #BlindTasting has recently finished and as usual I'll post a summary. Following on from fantastic Series 1 & 2 - this one was brought up a few surprised with the five of us trying to identify 15 mystery drams through smell and taste, having #NoPreconceivedIdeas or #MarketingBullshit to sway our opinions.

#BlindTasting Series 3 - Part 1

If you've followed us so far on our #BlindTasting journey of discovery you'll know that is a great fun set of evenings here the five of us try to identify drams from each other. sometimes we can get quite close, sometimes we are completely flummoxed. But the key things are we are trying the drams blind with no preconceived ideas and we are having lots of fun!
