Lindores Abbey @TweetTastings

@LindoresAbbey Distillery shared some of their bottlings with us in a recent @TweetTastings.

Here's my thoughts and those of a few friends!

My thoughts
:

Appearance: Pale gold in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up slowly and falls as slow thin legs.

Nose: Orchard fruit to start: apples pears and apricots; a little musty forest floor, some vanilla. There's also some honey, marzipan and a little citrus.

Palate: Thin sweet arrival lemon zest and peppery spice assault the tongue before the orchard fruit come back- this time stewed with a little caramel sauce. Some vanilla and honey before a little bitter note left on the tongue s the liquid disappears.

Finish: Short, slightly dry with citrus and spice.

My thoughts
:

Appearance: Dark gold in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up slowly and falls as slow thin legs.

Nose: Takes some time to open up, starts with sweet citrus peel, mint, and fresh pineapple. There's some vanilla, aniseed and wet oak. There's marshmallow, dry brown sugar and some red berries hints.

Palate: Thick sweet arrival, red berries, dried fruit and a little sour citrus note to start. The orange from the nose is back along with some oak and toffee. The red berries come back with a little brown sugar and cinnamon spice as the liquid disappears.

Finish: Lingering red berries, spice and oak.

My thoughts
:

Appearance: Bronze in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up slowly and eventually falls as slow thin oily legs.

Nose: Huge sherry bomb notes: dried fruit, dates, figs, black cherries; there's some toffee sweetness and a little dark chocolate. A little soy sauce, black treacle and hints of citrus - Yummy!

Palate: Thick sweet arrival, dry brown sugar, dried fruit and black cherries. Some coffee notes, almonds and dark chocolate, not bitter, just dark. Chewing nuts, cinnamon and drying icing sugar as the liquid disappears,

Finish: Lingering dry spice and dried fruit.

My thoughts
:

Appearance: Mid gold in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up very slowly and falls as slow thin oily legs.

Nose: Similar to the MCDXCIV, slightly musty, nutty and sweet. There's a interesting note of Greek yogurt drizzled with honey. Some overripe banana, vanilla and a hint of citrus.

Palate: Thick sweet arrival, immediately spicy: pepper, ginger and cinnamon. There's liquorice, some mint and a little salinity. A little time and offers vanilla and tropical fruit notes of pineapple, mango and banana. Then as the liquid disappears you're left with a huge lemon fizz on the tongue - yummy!

Finish: Medium length, slightly drying with loads of citrus fizz and spice.
