Limestone Branch Distillery teased us with some of their bottlings in a recent @TweetTastings.
Appearance: Transparent in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up immediately and falls as slow thin oily legs.
Nose: Very fragrant, coriander to start with some berry fruit and citrus in the background.
Palate: Thick sweet arrival, all the notes from the nose along with some peppery spice, toffee and a little salinity. The herbal notes continue on the tongue as the liquid disappears.
Finish: Short, slightly dry with citrus and spice.
Other Tweeter's thoughts:
Appearance: dark gold almost bronze in the glass, swirls leave a thin line in the glass, bead up slowly and fall as thin oily legs.
Nose: Honey nut cornflakes, berry fruit, vanilla but not a lot of rye spice. Some citrus and pine needles.
Palate: Thin sweet arrival, gentle rye spice, a little liquorice, Parma violets and honey. There's some berry notes from the sherry cask, some nuttiness and a dry peppery spice as the liquid disappears.
Finish: Lingering rye spice and dry pepper.
Other Tweeter's thoughts:
Appearance: dark gold almost bronze in the glass, swirls leave a thin line in the glass which immediately bead up and fall as thin oily legs.
Nose: Burnt toffee, mixed nuts, orange zest, honey and a hint of spice. Icing sugar suggesting dryness.
Palate: Thick sweet arrival that immediately turns sour - orange to grapefruit. There's honey, vanilla and toasted nuts here too. Some rye like spices. Turns dry and slightly sour as the liquid disappears - very strange.
Finish: Lingering dry vanilla and lots of peppery and cinnamon spice.
