Glasgow Distillery @TweetTastings

@TheWhiskyWire reached his 200th @TweetTastings milestone by teaming up with @GlasgowDC to try their range of Gin, Vodka, Rum and of course Whisky!

Let's see what the drams were like!

Steve's first Tweet Tasting was with Compass Box back in 2011

For this tasting, Glasgow Distillery had sent us bottles of their Makar Gin, G52 Botanical Vodka, Banditti Rum and 1770 Peated Whisky.

Let's see what everyone thought!

My thoughts:

Nose
: Nose: loads of fresh citrus - lime zest, lemon juice, sour grapefruit. Juniper and Turkish Delight, notes too.

Palate: thick oily arrival, juniper lead but full of berries and citrus - very drying. Blackberries, strawberries lemon and lime are here as well as the Turkish Delight from the nose.
Gin with the tonic - huge fresh citrus notes fix with the effervescence of the tonic to give that effect when you've sucked the hell out of a sherbet lemon sweet!

Other Tweeter's thoughts:

My thoughts:

Nose: a big blast of citrus - put this time it's blood orange and grapefruit rather then lemon and lime.

Palate: blood orange, grapefruit, pine needles, and some tropical fruit notes - coconut, dried pineapple and ginger. spice Again very drying.
Vodka with tonic - it just smells of summer! Strawberries, lemon, grapefruit, maybe not as sweet as before but more fizzy on the tongue.

Other Tweeter's thoughts:

My thoughts:

Nose
: oooh - not keen on this one - teenagers sweaty feet, stewed tropical fruit, dark chocolate, cinnamon spice and a aniseed.

Palate: thankfully the teenagers have left, replaced by tropical fruit and berry notes, some gingerbread and a bucket load of spice - cloves, cinnamon, pepper.
Rum with Ginger Beer - again a nice fizzy edge to the drink, the spices have subdued a little and the tropical fruit have come more to the fore. Nice summer long drink.

Other Tweeter's thoughts:

My thoughts:

Appearance
: lovely dark brown in the glass.

Nose: ember smoke, dunnage warehouse, cherry drops and a hint of salinity.

Palate: brown sugar, stewed orchard fruit - pears, apricots and plums - dried pineapple covered in icing sugar. A little vanilla and that background of salty smoke. It's sweet but not overly so - nice!

Finish: for me the PX finishing comes out on the finish - dry berry notes mingled with smoke and a little spicy vanilla..
Yummy!

Other Tweeter's thoughts:

Many thanks to @TheWhiskyWire@GlasgowDC and my fellow tweeters for a great night sharing some great drams!
