JJ Corry @TweetTastings

@WhiskeyGate is an independent bonder and blender from Ireland, this was their second @TweetTastings

The box came with 3 lovely well packed bottles and a lovely @TuathGlass.

JJ Corry pride themselves on being a little different from everyone else and this followed on to their bottle labelling - there wasn't any! Each bottle was simple labelled I, II and III - we were in for a blind tasting!

Lets see what everyone thought of them:

Dram I

My thoughts:

Appearance: Dram1 very pale gold in the glass, swirls cling to the glass and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: Loads of vanilla straight out of the glass, a little nail polish remover and some tropical fruit - pineapple and banana. Has a dry smell - icing sugar? A grain maybe?

Palate: Smooth arrival, a little orchard fruit and some tropical fruit. There's a nice bite of spice as it hits your tongue.

Finish: Short dry with a little spice - icing sugar and tropical fruit notes - nice!

Dram II

My thoughts:

Appearance: Another pale dram, even lighter tan the first? Swirls cling and again fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: Very similar to the first - loads of vanilla, a little tropical fruit - pineapple and bananas but this time with a squeeze of lime.

Palate:  Buttery - again very smooooooth, notes of tropical fruit and orchard fruit, the icing sugar is back but no spice on this one. Another grain? ABV is again mid range - 46% maybe, I'm thinking ex-bourbon again. This is less spicy so maybe a little older?

Dram III

My thoughts:

Appearance: Again a pale gold in the glass, swirls cling momentarily and fall as thick slow legs. Slightly different from the last two....

Nose: Similar tropical fruit notes - pineapple and banana but this has a real nail polish remover note - a younger grain? Lemon sherberts offering citrus notes. The icing sugar is there again too. This one smells as a higher ABV.......

Palate: Super smooth arrival, a little grape juice and then the tropical fruit comes in. slightly drying on the tongue and a long fuzzy warmth as it the liquid disappears, Slightly higher ABV - 50% this one may not be just ex-bourbon?

Finish:  Long warming finish, tropical fruit, a kick of oaky vanilla spice. Yummy! I'm going for a single grain, maybe related to dram 3 from last time? Very nice - just bottle it now!
