@DrinkGlenturret have recently launched their 2022 of 7 bottles, @TheWhiskyWire organised a @TweetTastings so we could try 3 of them!
Appearance: dark gold in the glass, a little orangey maybe? Swirls cling as a thin line, bead up slowly and fall as slow thin legs.
Nose: huge baked / stewed orchard fruit notes to start, some dried fruit and loads of vanilla custard, There's hints of flapjack, oak, brown sugar and a bite of cinnamon spice.
Palate: thick smooth arrival, a little honey & syrup - mouthcoating! The orchard fruit & vanilla are back, but it's the cinnamon spice which takes over biting at the tongue. Hints of sherried dried fruit & milk chocolate as the liquid disappears.
Other Tweeter's thoughts:
Appearance: dark gold dram, swirls cling as a thin line, bead up slowly and fall as slow thick oily legs.
Nose: peat smoke dominates but there is some complexity here: BBQ steak, marshmallow, stewed apples and blueberries. There's soft toffee, brown sugar and a gentle cinnamon spice.
Palate: lovely berry fruit to start - blueberries and raspberries. The smoke soon makes itself known but it's fairly gentle. Orchard fruit: apples, pears & peaches with milk chocolate come next then some brown sugar and a gentle cinnamon spice. YUMMY!
Other Tweeter's thoughts:
Appearance: dark gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thick line, forms large beads which fall as slow thin legs.
Nose: toffee apple with caramel sauce and vanilla custard. There's some dried fruit notes and damp wood. A little milk chocolate, nutmeg spice and cut grass add to the complexity. Nice!
Palate: Thick buttery arrival, cinnamon rolls, brown sugar, caramel apple betty & a little cinnamon spice. Dates, figs & cherries with a little milk chocolate. This is a dram to savour by an open fire slowly enjoying the unfurling complexity.
