#BTC63 #BlindDrams Tasting Notes

These are my tasting notes and results from the Blind Tasting Consortium's 63rd #BlindDrams evening.

These drams were picked by Paul @derekcuster

His theme was Painter's Palate, all the drams had pretty bottles!

Here are my tasting notes:

Dram 1

Appearance: mid gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line take a while to bead up and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: vanilla, honey, a little floral note. There's some orchard fruit hints and a little milk chocolate

Palate: thick sweet arrival: honey, Golden Syrup and some icing sugar. Faint berries, lemon zest and damp grass.

Finish: lingering orchard fruit, honey and citrus zest.
Yummy.
Scores a 3

Dram 2

Appearance: mid gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line bead up and fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: orchard fruit - apricots, peaches and some plums. There's a little salinity and some honey.

Palate: immediately spicy, a little thin but mouth coating, Golden Syrup, milk chocolate and some liquorice. There's some berries notes, icing sugar and a bite of peppery spice.

Finish: lingering orchard fruit, lemon zest and peppery spice.
Yummy.
Scores a 3.

Dram 3

Appearance: pale gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line bead up slowly and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: salinity, cut grass and some flaked almonds. A hint of mustiness, maybe smoke? Tropical fruit comes through too.

Palate: thick sweet arrival: honey, icing sugar and wet cardboard. This one is strange. There's some coconut milk, a little salinity and some chocolate hobnob. Can't get away from that mustiness though.

Finish: lingering wet cardboard, tropical fruit and a little spice.
Not keen.
Scores a 1

Dram 4

Appearance: very pale gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line bead up slowly and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: milk chocolate, lemon zest, honey and a little icing sugar. Caramel sauce on stewed apples, furniture polish and a little salinity.

Palate: lovely sweet arrival but with a very dry salinity. There's toffee, lemon zest and icing sugar.

Finish: long, salty and drying.
Another weird one but drinkable.
Scores a 2

Dram 5

Appearance: pale gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thick line bead up and fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: WTF very sour, new makey and gin like. Not keen. There's a little smoke and some sweet peanut notes - Kilchoman?

Palate: thick smoky arrival, very ashy, turns dry. A little orchard fruit, lemon zest, orange marmalade and more dry ash.

Finish: lingering dry ashy smoke, tropical fruit and some peppery spice.
Not keen
Scores a 1
