Hyde @TweetTasting

@HydeWhiskey chose a @TweetTastings to share some of their whiskies!

Here's my thoughts and those of a few friends!

My thoughts
:

Appearance
: gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line in the glass, bead up and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: buttered popcorn, rum and raisin ice cream, lime marmalade, blueberry jam. There's some walnut hints and a little brown sugar.

Palate: Surprisingly thick, sweet creamy arrival. Apple, peaches, buttery shortbread and a big kick of ginger spice. This is really tasty for such a young grain - reminds me of Bains Whisky. The wine finish has added a layer of berries & brown sugar - nice!

Finish: lingering buttered popcorn, vanilla and ginger & cinnamon spices.

My thoughts:

Appearance
light gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thick line, take an age to bead up and eventually fall as slow thick oily legs.

Nose: a little dunnage funk, lots of hedgerow berries and a large dollop of honey. This is right up my street! There's some orchard fruit, cherries and a hint of smoke. A little time and air offers toffee pennies and some gentle spice.

Palate: light sweet arrival, honey & brown sugar along with the berries & cherries from the nose. There's a lot of spice on this one: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg. There's an underlying orchard fruit base to this one with apples, pears & plums. A little citrus too.

Finish: short and sweet with berries, orchard fruit, a little spice and that smoke hint. Nice!

My thoughts:

Appearance
light gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line, take an age to bead up and fall as slow thin oily legs.

Nose: a little closed this one, vanilla, popcorn, toasted oak. Some time and a few swirls offer fruit & fibre cereal, stewed apples, a little syrup and some creamy raspberry Cranachan.

Palate: lovely thick creamy arrival, a little golden syrup & some gingery spice. Coats the mouth offering tropical fruit notes of pineapple, mango & banana. There's a dryness here too - some icing sugar. A little weird sour citrus note as the liquid disappears.

Finish: short and spicy with a little syrupy sweetness and some dried pineapple.
