Jura (Flavour Edition) @TweetTastings

Continuing their regular appearances on @TweetTastings recently was @jurawhisky with a look at their Flavour Edition range.

This includes the 10yo, Seven Wood and newly released Red Wine and Rum Cask finishes, let's see what they are like.

My thoughts:

Appearance: swirls cling as a thin line, take a little while to bead up and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: sweet honey, tinned fruit - pears, orange, pineapple, an earthy herbal note with a little peppery spice and a little hint of smoke. A little time and air and there's a release of strawberry jam notes from the oloroso finish - nice!

Palate: sweet light arrival, honey and brown sugar to start with a lovely gingery spice biting at the tongue. There's tropical fruit, berries and cherries; chewing nuts and a little milk chocolate.

My thoughts:

Appearance: swirls cling as a thick line, immediately bead up and fall as slow thick legs,

Nose: immediately different from the 10yo, the fruit and salt have gone replaced by oak and sawdust. Loads going on here - a little apple crumble, vanilla custard, icing sugar, milk chocolate and a little BBQed steak

Palate: a little thicker than the 10yo, drying icing sugar, porridge & citrus zest.  The fruit notes missing from the nose are back in the form of apples and berries. There's some dried fruit, almonds and toffee. Oh how I wish for a 46% NCF version of this?

Finish: lingering oaky spice, vanilla custard and berry crumble - yummy!

My thoughts:

Appearance: swirls cling as a thick line, take an age to bead up and eventually fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: forest floor pine needles, a hint of musty bookstore, icing sugar dusted dried pineapple, toasted coconut and some dried mango. #TotallyTropical

Palate: smooth creamy arrival, not as sweet as the previous 2 or as much as the nose suggests - all the tropical fruit you can name and some red berries covered in smooth creamy Greek yoghurt. There's a lovely bite of peppery spice as the liquid disappears,

My thoughts:

Appearance: swirls cling as a thin line which beads up slowly and falls as slow thin legs.

Nose: huge fruit nose - strawberries, blackberries, plums, pears, apricots (noses very dry?) Porridge and honey notes with some marzipan and coconut notes,

Palate: easy drinking fruity dram with them cream & strawberry sweets, drying icing sugar and a little Turkish Delight. The Jura DNA apples porridge & honey are here along with a peppery spice as the liquid disappears.
Liking this favourite of the night!
