BTC9 #BlindDrams Tasting Notes

These are my tasting notes from the Blind Tasting Consortium's 9th #BlindDrams evening.

These drams were picked by Richard @MckWhisky

Dram 1

Appearance: mid gold in the glass, swirls leave a hairline crack, take ages to bead up and fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: orchard fruit, sweet shop jars, a little floral note. There is some toffee, vanilla custard and milk chocolate hints - nice!

Palate: the orchard fruit from the nose is turning a little tropical, there's a fair bit of ginger spice too. The grassy notes are still here as is the toffee. There is some citrus fizz too. I'm thinking a youngster around 50% ABV?

Dram 2

Appearance: very pale gold in the glass, swirls again leave a hairline crack in the glass. Beads form slowly and fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: orchard fruit - stewed apples, a little cinnamon and some vanilla custard. Again a high ABV prickling the nose.

Palate: dry biscuity lemon meringue pie with grated lemon zest on the top - yummy! once you get pack the citrus kick there is some tropical notes - pineapple, banana and some ginger spice - nice. 50% ABV ?

Dram 3

Appearance: mid gold in the glass, swirls again take a while to form beads which then fall as slow thick legs.

Nose: BBQ on the beach - pineapples grilling, steak, seaweed at your feet.  There's some honey and a little citrus too. After a bit I get berries - red wine cask?

Palate: sweet tropical fruit, pineapple, mango, banana, ginger. There's also some maritime influence - a little salty seaweed. Then the peat comes in - very heathery, a dry smoke - nice!

Dram 4

Appearance: pale gold in the glass, swirls leave a thin line of beads on the glass which fall as slow thin legs,

Nose: tropical fruit - pineapple, mango. Some salted caramel notes and a hint of lime zest YUMMY!

Palate: very dry and sweet - dried pineapple covered in icing sugar, some marzipan notes and a hint of citrus - YUMMY!

Dram 5

Appearance: dark gold in the glass, swirls leave a line of tiny beads and fall as slow thin legs.

Nose: rubber skid marks on freshly laid tarmac - smoke, seaweed and a little sour citrus. Nice!
