#BlindPack : Lady Of The Glen Tasting

The #BlindPack are a small secretive organisation who have regular virtual tastings - some blind but some labelled. They change their code name to reflect the contents each tasting, this time it was #LadyBoys!

We spent an evening with Paul McKendrick from @Lady_ofthe_Glen trying some of their bottlings.

Gregor Hannah acquires rare single casks from the Scotch Whisky larder to mature and release under his own brand Lady of the Glen. Since launching in 2012, they have delivered over 1000 bottles of exceptional whisky worldwide.

Mike @whiskyrover organised the tasting, for our £20 + P&P we were sent 6 x 25ml samples and on the night a Zoom session was organised.

Paul led us through a great tasting, sharing insights into LotG and the distilleries we were sampling.

My brief thoughts on the drams:

Inchgower 13yo 55.8% (Ex-bourbon)
Nose: Tropical fruit, some salinity.
Palate: Tropical fruit, brown sugar, honey, spicy ginger, drying..
Glen Keith 22yo 52% (Ex-bourbon)
Nose: Stewed orchard fruit, orange segments, vanilla.
Palate: Tropical fruit, caster sugar, citrus zest.
Auchentoshan 21yo 51.3% (Ex-bourbon)
Nose: Vanilla, spearmint, oak, citrus.
Palate: Woody vanilla, fizzy grapefruit, ginger spice.
Tullibardine 14yo 57.3% (Ex-bourbon, 14mths Oloroso)
Nose: Woody, dry, spicy, furniture polish.
Palate: Dry fruity, wood, spicy, cherries, strawberry toffos.
Teaninich 9yo 56.7% (Ex-bourbon, 12mths Rivesalts)
Nose: Fruit, berries, smoke, cola cubes
Palate: Very dry, steak, sweet berries, oily.
Orkney 14yo 58.9% (Probably Highland Park, ex-bourbon, 14mths Oloroso)
Nose: Peat smoke, strawberry jam, spicy pepper
Palate: Dried fruit, strawberry, black pepper, very drying.

On the night the Auchentoshan stood out for me as the best dram but the rest were very close behind!

Many thanks to Lady of the Glen and the #LadyBoys for a great evening of whisky tasting!
