JJ Corry 2nd Chance @TweetTastings

I was really excited to be invited to take part in a JJ Corry @WhiskeyGate @TweetTastings but unfortunately the parcel office at Shannon Airport decided they wanted to take part in my place so my parcel didn't arrive. I later found out that a few others had suffered the same fate or had received damaged parcels. The great people at JJ Corry sent replacements and I arranged a 2nd chance tasting for us all.

Side by side : Three Bunnas

For this 'side by side' blog I've picked 2 NAS drams from the @Bunnahabhain current range and one that's recently been discomtinued. I'm sure we all know (and love) the entry level 12yo, the 18yo and the 25yo but these drams fit somewhere in between.

Cadenhead's Tasmanian Investment

A chance chat with @Pop_Noir and a sample swap delivered me a little piece of Australian history courtesy of Cadenheads. At first I thought "Nice - this will be from one of those new Australian distilleries that are popping up, I've tried a few Starwards, I wonder what this is like?"

When I started to look into the history of Cradle Mountain the story got a little interesting!

Mini-review : Caribbean delights?

A recent sample swap from @isnaeWinston delivered a @Balvenie Caribbean Cask to try.

So this is a 14yo Rum Cask finish whisky - let's see what it's like...

Loch Lomond @TweetTastings

OK I admit it I'm a bit of a @LochLomondMalts fanboy, in fact I've tried more whiskies from this distillery than any other! Imagine the level of excitement in our house when Steve @TheWhiskyWire announced they were going to be the next @TweetTastings and then when I received a little note saying I had a place!

A lovely parcel arrived in plenty of time for the tasting allowing us grateful recipients to take loads of photos and ramp up the publicity. Last year Loch Lomond agreed a five year deal to sponsor golf's Open Championship in the UK, and released a number of new bottles under their #SpiritOfTheOpen campaign. This year they've added a few more which we were going to try for the tasting.

Side by side: Cadenhead's 10yo Hogsheads

For this 'side by side' blog I've picked 3 Ten year old cask strength drams from Cadenhead's Small Batch range. Each of these has come from the marriage of two or more bourbon hogsheads.

WM Cadenhead's is Scotland's oldest independent bottler, founded in Aberdeen in 1842 was bought by J & A Mitchell & Co Ltd, the proprietors of Springbank Distillery in 1972.

Side by side : Glen Scotia Single Casks

A couple of lovely drams for this side by side, a pair of @GlenScotiaMalts single casks.

Glen Scotia is one of the smallest Scotch whisky distilleries in Scotland and still maintains much of its original design, including the fermenters, the stillroom and the dunnage warehouse dating from the 1830s.
