100 Not Out! 50th birthday dram re-visited!

Well 100 blog posts in a little under 2 years, nearly 25,000 views and just over 1,500 tweeters following me on twitter - you're all nutters!

We'll to mark my 100th post I've decided to carry on from our earlier in the year when I turned 50 and do a proper review of the Batch 5 release of Boutique-y Whisky Co's 50yo Blended Scotch Whisky I had to celebrate with!

As you can see there's not an awful lot left...

So, what do we know about this whisky?
  • Well obviously it's a blend, the youngest component of which is 50 years old.
  • Boutique-y Whisky Co blended and bottled it.
  • Not a lot more unfortunately!

These are Boutique-y's thoughts:

And here are mine:

Appearance: Dark brown, swirls leave thick lines which turn into blobs rather than legs.

Nose: Dunnage warehouses, dark chocolate, black cherries.

Palate: Slight honey notes, bitter chocolate with a spicy kick, slightly drying.

Finish: Bitter chocolate - not unpleasant, drying with a hint of smoke?

Overall: A lovely dram, it's age showing in the bitter chocolate notes and the dunnage warehouse nose - lovely to drink and even nicer to share!
