Side by side : peated whisky from Bunnahabhain

Islay - home of peated whisky? We know that all of the distilleries on Islay produce peated whisky* - well all except one @Bunnahabhain! Well it turns out that they actually do!

Two entry level peated releases are Mòine and Toiteach A Dhà - let's see what they are like!

Alpha Two : 13yo Croftengea

@AlphaWhisky2019 is an independent bottler based in a small shop in Edinburgh. 

Their 2nd release is a heavily peated Croftengea (Loch Lomond) matured for 13 years with a finish in a first fill Madeira Cask.

Side by side : The Fisherman's Retreat Edition 12

I've written about @FishRetreat many times before, a restaurant in the Twine Valley at the edge of the Pennine Hills around 15 miles north of Manchester. They are also an Independent Bottler selling whiskies matured in wine casks.

Their latest release is a 4yo from @GlasgowDC Distillery - let's see what it's like!

Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival 2023 Limited Edition - 11yo Peated White Port

As well as being my birthday the end of April usually sees the release of @GlenScotia's Campbeltown Malts Festival Limited Edition.

This year they've gone with an 11yo finished in a White Port cask.

Loch Lomond Distillery Edition Two

Following on from the first release in November @LochLomondMalts have released the second in their Distillery Edition series. 

This release is a Single Distillery Peated Blend so a mix of malt and grain whisky from the same distillery.

@DrinkGlenturret distillery have had a bit of a renaissance since leaving the Famous Grouse stable, a new brand and new bottlings but obviously still the same liquid.

I've talked about Glenturret's recent take over and new releases before here and here, but this time I'm going to look at four independent bottlings.

Highland Park Cask Strength Release No. 3

It's been a while since I last reviewed an OB @HighlandPark bottle, like a lot of people I started on the 40% 12yo from Tesco and was hooked. Unfortunately the Viking comic strip started and the prices sky rocketed...

The Cask Strength releases seem to return to an age before dodgy marketing, let's see what it's like!
