Cù Bòcan @TweetTastings

@cubocanwhisky chose a @TweetTastings to launch their Creation #6, we got to try some others from their range too!

Here's my thoughts and those of a few friends!

My thoughts
:

Appearance
: Mid gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line, take an age to bead up, and fall as slow thin oily legs

Nose: huge orchard fruit notes to start: apple, pear, apricot; there's  little vanilla and some honey. A note of lemon zest adds some zing. There's a lovely gentle peat smoke note wrapping everything.

Palate: thick sweet arrival, honey and coconut dominate, the smoke comes next. The fruit has turned all tropical with an added bonus of some berry notes. The citrus is back - as lemon bonbons & lemon meringue pie & it's all rounded off with a lovely cinnamon spice.

Finish: lingering smoke, cinnamon spice and tropical fruit. Yummy dram, great start to the evening!

My thoughts:

Appearance
: Mid gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thick line, bead up, and fall as slow thick oily legs

Nose: the rum cask has dulled down some of the fruit notes from the Signature, this is more subtle - BBQ pineapple rings, golden syrup, caramel and orange zest. The gentle smoke is back alongside some stem ginger and white chocolate.

Palate: again a thick sweet arrival (when is everyone else going to go minimum 46% ABV NCF for their drams?) The tropical fruit from the nose is back in buckets, the smoke a lot more subdued. There's an interesting salinity note and a lovely ginger spice!

Finish: Short and sharp - ginger spice, tropical fruit and a little smoke. Another lovely dram, I'm not usually a fan of rum casks but this one is rather nice!

Appearance
: Dark gold in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line, bead up slowly, and fall as slow thick oily legs

Nose: huge dunnage funk, musty 2nd hand bookshops and old leather sofas. There's some treacle toffee, balsamic vinegar drizzled strawberries, dates, prunes and black cherries. YUMMY!

Palate: runny honey, cinnamon spice and gentle smoke to start. There's a lovely maple syrup note, pecan pie and grilled pineapple. The dark fruit from the nose are back with plums and prunes. Lovely lingering cinnamon spice as the liquid disappears!

Finish: lingering dunnage funk, dates, plums, gentle smoke and cinnamon spice. What a lovely dram, best of the night so far!

My thoughts:

Appearance
: Bronze in the glass, swirls cling as a thin line, take an age to bead, and fall as slow thin oily legs

Nose: more dunnage funk on this one but it's been turned down a little from the creation, it's a little more subtle. Sherry soaked dried fruit, dates, figs, black cherries. Rum & raisin ice cream with a fudge stick. Most noticeable smoke of the 4 tonight.

Palate: hick, sweet arrival, immediately drying. All the notes from the nose are back with a sprinkling of Christmas spices. YUMMY !!! I think a bit of the CuBocan character is MIA here but this is a yummy dram. Chewing nuts, figs, dates, oak & orange zest.

Finish: lingering dry sherried fruit, smoke and dry cinnamon spice. Lovely dram, hard pressed to pick between this and the Creation for my favourite...
