#BlindTasting Series 6 Episode 2

Series 6 Episode 2

After a winter hibernation the #BlindTasting team were back to continue Series 6, trying to work out what the 5 drams they'd swapped were and to tell what we thought of them without knowing where they were from. #NoPreconceivedIdeas! If you haven't followed us before you can catch up with all the previous series here.

This time we revised the lineup to take into account late postal deliveries.... the lineup was : D16 from @GentlemanGrimm, A17 from me, A17 from @SpiritAndWood, E17 from @WhiskyWings, E17 from @GentlemanGrimm@JWBassman_ had a night off due to using two of his in the last episode!

First up was D16 from Grimm

Mike had poured the wrong dram so had to make a quick change!

We got stuck in on the nose

And then on to the palate and some guesses on ABV

First point to John, although based on his nose guess rather than palate guess!

A few more details from Grimm

And then the guessing started

Point to me!

We were all a little high on age guesses... but would we buy it?

So Grimm made the reveal...

Next up was A17 from me....

The guesses started coming in

And some of them were right!

Next the key question

 More nuts...

I came a big clue...

And John got it straight away...

Grimm was recovering from illness so was a little slow on the uptake!

Third dram of the evening was C17 from Alistair

A beautiful colour - what did we think?

There had been a problem with a broken cork - so Aleister had filtered it - not well enough for Grimm!

The guesses started...

Alistair had tricked us on a previous #BlindTatsting by bottling a sherry rather than a whisky.. John was cautious...

We tried to work out where it was from

 Only 40% ABV....

And not the wonderful C16 (Macallan Genesis)

Alistair gave us a few more details

And then the reveal...

Fourth dram of the evening was E17 from Mike

Mike had offered a cracking dram, John immediately guessed at SMWS

And was right!

ABV was on the high side but most of us had guessed that!

We then started trying to identify it....

But John had got this one too!

Final dram of the night was D17 from Grimm

John was straight in with the guesses

I was thinking along similar lines

But we were both wrong

So Islay then....

Grimm invited us to dive in

And the guesses started

Mike was a little lost

But in September all that will change!

John was straight in with the guesses

And he was very close!

Another great evening of #BlindTasting
