These are my tasting notes and results from the Blind Tasting Consortium's 60th #BlindDrams evening.
Their theme was Silent Groovy 60's Disco, silent because we didn't know who was picking the drams before the reveal and 60's as all the drams had something to do with 60!
Appearance: pale gold in the Glencairn, swirls cling as a thin line, bead up slowly and fall as slow thin oily legs.
Nose: icing sugar, marzipan, ice-cream sundae. A little herbal note and some unsmoked bacon hints.
Palate: thick mouth coating arrival, Golden Syrup, almonds, lemon zest, icing sugar and a lovely peppery spice as the liquid disappears. A little effervescence on the tongue reminiscent of LL CWY?
Finish: lingering lemon, icing sugar and spice.
I’m thinking a 10yo FF bourbon at 55% ABV, scores a solid 4
LL CWY?

Finish: lemon, tropical fruit and peppery spice.
I’m thinking a 12yo rum finish at 55% ABV, scores a 2

Finish: medium length dry and spicy with dried fruit and salted walnuts.
I’m thinking a 15yo RF sherry at 58% ABV, scores a 3
