It's not very often you have the chance to buy a bottle of Springbank, it's rarely in stock anywhere or available for a reasonable price unless you visit the distillery shop.
Distillery info:
Our new 5yo bottling, the Springbank 100 Proof from Springbank
          Distillery.

        57.1% ABV
        100% Bourbon
        Nose

A bright and vibrant start to this dram, there are notes of green
apples, gorse bush, wine gums, and a mineral note.

        Palate

The palate is well balanced with a touch of peat smoke, and sweet
notes of icing sugar and white chocolate. Notes of tomato plant,
sunflower seeds and linseed oil develop.

        Finish
The finish brings notes of honey and gooseberries.
      My thoughts:
Appearance: pale gold in the Glencairn, swirls cling as a thin line, forming tiny beads which hand for a while and fall as slow thick legs.
Nose: gentle peat smoke, orchard fruit and honey. There's some herbal hints, dried seaweed and a little citrus. Fresh baked Peshwari Naan, icing sugar and some peppery spice.
Palate: thick sweet dry arrival. The youthfulness and ABV shine through - this will easily take some water. Undiluted though it's driven by salinity, ashy smoke and peppery spice. Some minerality drying icing sugar. Lemon peel and green apple offer some zing balanced by white chocolate, toffee and a hint of liquorice.
Finish: lingering salinity, gentle smoke and dry spices.Overall : it certainly packs a punch, it's full of Campbeltown funk but for me it's way to spirity, a little dilution opens it a little. This is supposed to be a quarterly release so a new batch should be available soon!
I was going explain what 100 proof means but Springbank released a short video to do that!
