Whisky from...? England 2

Next in my little series on Whisky from...? is England - again! My latest count suggest there are over 30 whisky distilleries in England, this time I'm looking at Black Bridge distillery in Hertfordshire

The whisky I am trying has been distilled for Farr Brew Brewery using their own unhopped beer as a wash.

Farr Brew is a multi awarding brewery that has the environment and the community at its heart, founded in 2014, it's the brain child of Nick Farr, a man with an enthusiasm for top quality ale who started his brewing journey in 1999. In 2015 he teamed up with long-term friend Matt Elvidge and Farr Brew became a limited company.

Black Bridge Distillery was formed in 2017 by two friends Ashley McCallum and Luke Griggs who contract distil gin, vodka and moonshine for other companies to bottle.

Their Still "Katherine"

Ash & Luke

Whisky - Farr Brew Small Batch Spirit, 40% ABV

Distillery notes: None!

My thoughts:
Appearance: Mid gold in the glass, swirls leave a thin line which beads up and falls as slow thin legs.
Nose: Orchard fruit and honey - apples, pears, sweet honey and some barley cereal notes. There's some new make meaty hints here too.
Palate: Thin sweet arrival, runny honey and a bite of peppery spice. The orchard fruit from the nose is here but there is a tropical element to it with some dried coconut notes. A few more sips offer a little dry citrus.
Finish: Lingering peppery spice with hints of coconut and honey.
Overall: This is obviously a young dram, it still has meaty hints of new make and the low ABV doesn't help but it's quite drinkable.

Many thanks to @johngoonn for the sample swap!
